About
Why the New Comm-versations weblog?
Strategic communicators build business value and advance the organization’s agenda. We are (or should be) leaders, innovators, facilitators and partners contributing to that end goal, rather than just good writers or experts on the latest post-Twitter phenomenon. Too often, however we don’t talk about how to make that happen. We keep revisiting the old conversations – getting ‘a seat at the table’, or becoming an ‘expert’ at social media.
It’s time for some new conversations.
This weblog is for communications and business professionals with a passion for improving the corporate conversation by ‘raising the bar’ for employee communications, marketing and leader communications. I will explore developing the future communications organization (or fixing the ones we have today), plus some strategies related to CIO communications and marketing the IT function – a somewhat unique subject area that I have been lucky enough to explore in my career.
Thanks in advance for reading – I hope you find what I write here interesting, engaging and thought provoking. More coming soon.
About Jeff
I’m a corporate communications professional based in Chicago, Illinois (USA). If you are reading this introductory page, I am betting you have at least some curiosity, if not active interest, in strategic organizational communication. I believe that there a lot of opportunities to help motivate, direct and shape organizations through effective communications. Communications professionals today have an opportunity (I might even say responsibility) to adapt and reinvent themselves with changing times and technologies. We are strategic partners in driving business success, influencing agendas, driving change at all levels and in all places. My weblog is about taking up that challenge to redesign the way we contribute to organizations in a way that delivers value like never before. I’ve never been big on sacred cows, and there wlll likely be some communications hamburger made on my weblog. I hope you will join me in debating some of the ideas that I put forward in a way that inspires communicators everywhere to rethink the way they do business – that’s what the comments are for.
